Musicianship Classes

  • Theory
    Theory is the study of the fundamentals of Occidental music. It includes intervals, scales, chords, harmonic analysis, musical form and counterpoint. Students are grouped according to their level of musical knowledge, to be determined by the Conservatory. Children and adults have separate classes.

  • Music Theory & Composition
    Students are taught the basic music theory as it applies to various styles of composition. Jazz, blues, pop, and classical styles are explored with regard to harmony, melody and rhythm.

  • Music History
    Lectures and performances are combined to give a general survey of the development of Occidental music.

  • Ensemble Classes
    Auditions are required for all Ensemble Classes so that students of similar performance levels can be matched. Chamber music study is recommended for all intermediate and advanced instrumental students.

  • Early Music Ensemble
    Learning and performing Medieval and Renaissance music for high school students and adults.

Instruction Overview

The Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory offers individual instrumental and vocal instruction for children and adults. Musicianship classes are offered free of charge to all Conservatory students who study an instrument or voice.
